Boston, the pet UN-friendly city

Six months ago Copley, my Boston Terrier, and I moved back to Boston from Scottsdale, AZ.

We've had to give up a lot of our together-activities because Boston is the most UN pet friendly city. In Scottsdale, we hit up dog parks, joined others at the local Boston Terrier meet up, went to agility/obedience class two days a week, and played tons of frisbee.

I'm on a mission to seek out, experience, and rate all the pet friendly places in the Boston area.

What are your favorite pet friendly places in the Boston area?

  1. many many in the south end - dog parks, doggie day care, dog friendly restaurants, dog bakery, etc, go check it out!

  2. There is a dog park in South Boston (near Castle Island) that is open all day. In Brookline, we take our pups to the big park on Brookline & Aspinwall. It's only open for dogs until 1pm most of the year, but it's completely fenced in, which we need for the beagles. There are usually tons of people/pets there and we rarely see issues with the animals.
The MSPCA in JP also has a smaller fenced in "yard" open to the public, but there are some agressive dogs there.

  3. We take our pups to the park on the corner of Brookline & Aspinwall (near the Longwood area). It's only open for off-leash hours until 1pm most of the year, but it's fenced in, which we need for the beagles. There are lots of regulars there and we rarely see any issues with the dogs.
The MSPCA has a smaller fenced "yard" that's open to the public, but we have run into aggresive dogs/careless owners there.
